A Winter Poncho

Williamsburg by Vanessa Putt,
Malabrigo Rasta, color 120 Lotus

We love a great poncho for staying warm. They are comfortable, wonderful for layering & of course stylish.

The Williamsburg Poncho by Vanessa Putt is such a fun, gratifying project. Knit in super bulky Malabrigo Rasta, the intermediate level poncho features a dramatic cowl neck with thick, intertwining cables down the front & back.

To knit the piece, you will knit the front & back flat, seperately. The two pieces are then seamed at the shoulders. Lastly, stitches are picked up along the sides & neck to create the ribbed border & cowl neck.

The photo sample features signature Malabrigo colorway, Lotus, a combination of magentas, pinks & deep to light sky blues. It would look fabulous in many of the other Malabrigo variegated colorways as well or choose a tonal for a more monochromatic look.

Materials:

One size- open sides give the piece sizing flexibility & comfort, measures 21” wide x 31” long

  • 8 skeins Malabrigo Rasta or 720 yards of comparable super bulky yarn
  • Size US 13, 40” circular needle + double point needles
  • Similar size cable needle

**Rasta is hand-dyed so we recommend alternating between skeins to artfully blend the color. Knit 2 rows with one skein, then knit 2 rows with another skein. No need to cut the strands, simply drop & leave at the end of the row until you return. Repeat, working in new skeins as you finish one.

Shop Malabrigo for your next super bulky project. Colorways are well-stocked & ready to be knit!

Happy Knitting!
