We love knitting & want to share this creative, relaxing passion with others. Beginning Monday, August 30, 2021 from 3:30pm-5pm we will be offering complimentary beginner knitting classes!
The class is open to all ages (though we recommend children are at least 10 years of age). Whether you have never picked up needles before or just need a refresher, this class is perfect for you.
Everyone learns at a different pace & has busy schedules so we are excited to do things a little differently....the class will occur every week at the same time, but there is no sign-up required & no commitment to attend every week. Just show up when you like & our friendly, knowledgeable instructor will help you pick up right where you left off.
Here is an example of the sequential cadence of the class:
First class
- Learn the basics of needles & yarn. Instructor will help you choose appropriate materials for the first project.
- Begin first project, Soft Cotton Washcloth.
- Learn long tail cast-on & knit stitch
Next class
- Continue working on washcloth series & learn additional stitches, as well as how to bind-off
Once you finish your washcloths & feel comfortable, then the next project you will learn is the Stitch Sampler Cowl. This is a great first garment to practice what you have learned & continue to build knitting skills, such as knitting in the round.
The class is a great way to learn a new pastime in our relaxing shop. Our goal at Wool & Co. is to create a welcoming environment where knitters of all skill levels are inspired to learn something new, discover new yarns/patterns & make new connections in the fiber world.
