This slip stitch hat and scarf has a holographic quality usually only found in brioche knits - but there’s no brioche here! The 4-row repeat could not be simpler, making this an excellent project for new knitters. And both sides are the ‘right’ side, with a different color emphasis. 

The size is easy to modify, just add repeats to increase the width and knit it as long or as short as you like. Just be aware any modifications will affect your yarn requirements, so plan accordingly.

Finished Size

Hat: 18” head circumference (unstretched) and 8¾” tall

Scarf: 8” wide and 78” long, not including fringe

Manos del Uruguay WOOL CLÁSICA (100% handspun wool; approx. 138 yds/100 g)

Hat: 1 sk each of C1 (lighter color) and C2 (darker color)

Scarf: 2 sks each of C1 and C2

Shown in S Magenta (C1) and 89 Taffeta (C2)

16½ sts and 28 rows = 4”/10cm in Slipstitch Pattern in Rows.

16 sts and 33 rnds = 4”/10cm in Slipstitch Pattern in the Round.
