Sumi Long Cardigan by Amy Gunderson
Craft: Knitting
This pattern is available on Ravelry(goes to new website)(opens in a new tab).
This cardigan is worked flat from the top down. First, the Upper Back is knit down to the armhole. Then, stitches are picked up from the shoulders of the Back, and the Upper Fronts are worked down to the armhole. Fronts and Back are then joined, and the remainder of the body is knit downward in one piece. Stitches are picked up around the armholes and Sleeves are worked downward in the round.
Depending on the positioning of the yarn, there are instances when the charts have two consecutive WS rows or two consecutive RS rows. If the row number is at the right-hand side of the chart, it is a RS row and you read the chart from right to left. If the row number is at the left-hand side of the chart, it is a WS row and you read the chart from left to right. When instructed to increase every x number of rows, this may not always occur on a RS row. In these instances, work the increase row on the next available RS row. Weaving in and knitting in ends as you go, or using a Russian join, is recommended to reduce finishing time later.
