Spruce is worked with bands of slip stitch, our favorite way to add a quick color pattern to a piece of knitting. Carry one color at a time—no floats, no uneven tension. This version of the hat comes from leftovers of yarn at the bottom of Pam's work basket that came together surprisingly well. So many color possibilities!

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
19" [48.5 cm] brim circumference and 9½" [24 cm] tall

YARN:
Quince & Co. Owl Tweet or Quince & Co. Owl / 1 skein each: buru 310 (A) / barents sea 326 (B) / chamomile 312 (C)

NEEDLES:
16" circular in sizes US 8 and 9 [5 and 5.5 mm] / set dpns in size US 9 [5.5 mm]

GAUGE:
17 sts and 29 rnds = 4" [10 cm] in slip stitch pattern with larger needles, after blocking

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Long-tail cast on, pom poms (links provided); decreasing, slipping stitches, working with multiple colors.
