This hat starts as a typical rolled-brim cap, but the top moves into new territory: a series of pleats, accentuated by the bulk of Cardo. Instructions included for the smiley-face pompom!

18¾” head circumference and about 8½” tall with lower edge allowed to roll

Manos del Uruguay CARDO (100% Corriedale wool; approx. 109 yds/100 g): 1 sk.

Optional: Manos del Uruguay MAXIMA (100% extrafine merino wool; approx. 219 yds/100 g): 12 to 15 yds of contrasting color (CC) and 12” of black for pompom.

US 9/5.0 mm double-pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
2 additional double-pointed needles in any size for making pleats

Tapestry needle
2” square of cardboard for making pompom (optional)

Fabric glue, Sobo brand or similar for pompom (optional)
