Yarn

Manos del Uruguay ALEGRIA (75% superwash merino, 25% polyamide; approx. 100g/445 yds),

1 sk for all sizes. Shown in A2293 Leo.

Needles & Notions

US 4 (3.5mm) 16” circular needle and set of 4 or 5 double pointed, or size needed to obtain gauge.

US 3 (3.25mm) 16” circular needle.

3 pattern repeats (27 to 30 sts) = 4¾” / 12 cm in Mock Cable pattern using larger needles.

36 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Mock Cable pattern using larger needles.

24½ sts and 37 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Ridge pattern using larger needles.

Notes

The body of the hat is worked sideways, back and forth in rows, then grafted into a cylinder. Stitches for the ribbing are picked up along one edge of the body and worked in the round. Stitches for the crown are picked up along the remaining edge of the body and worked in the round with decreases for the top of the head.
