This pattern is available to download from Ravelry.
A ring of curvy lace leaves contrasts with the clean geometry of the crown shaping in the Ensata hat. Flowing organically from the lace pattern, the all-over twisted rib gives structure and elasticity to this stretchy beanie. Ensata is knit in 4-ply fingering weight Peerie, for even more body and stitch definition.
Yarn
- 1 skein of Brooklyn Tweed Peerie (100% American Merino Wool; 210 yards/50 grams)
- Photographed in color Fleet
Yardage

Note: Gauge for this project changes considerably after blocking; please block your swatch prior to measuring to ensure correct sizing.
Needles
- One pair of 16” circular needles, and one set of double-pointed needles (DPNs)* in size needed to obtain gauge listed
- Suggested Size: 3.5 mm (US 4)
*32” circular needle can be used instead of 16” circular and DPNs if using the Magic Loop method for working small circumferences in the round.
Finished Dimensions
- 17¾“ 45 cm circumference; 8½” 21.5 cm length
- Measurements taken from relaxed fabric after blocking
Note that this hat is sized to fit adult head sizes ranging from 19-23” [48-58.5 cm] circumference. The stitch pattern used is extremely stretchy. Although the unstretched dimensions for finished circumference appear small, the elasticity of finished fabric will fit the head sizes listed above.
