The Baba Noel Stocking looks at Christmas from an Anadolu aesthetic’s point of view, representing St Nicholas’ birthplace of Myra with Anatolian motifs.
Materials:
MC - 1 skein Urth Christmas Worsted,
CC - 1 skein Urth Harvest Worsted, Ecru

Needles:
US 7 / 4.5 mm circular needle 16”/ 40 cm long, or a set of DPNs; or size needed to obtain gauge

21 sts x 27 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette st, blocked (Gauge is not crucial)

Techniques:
Turkish figure-8 cast on, circular knitting with small circumferences, 2 color stranded colorwork, German short rows, I-cord knitting, increasing, picking up stitches, grafting
This stocking is worked in the round, toe up. Stitches are casted on for the toe and worked with CC, and the Foot is worked with MC. German Short Rows are use to shape the Heel. The colorwork motifs of the leg section are inspired by Anatolian kilims. Garter stitch rows are worked on the top edge of the Stocking, and an I-cord is worked for hanging the Stocking as a final step.
