Spun from 100% Icelandic wool, Lopi creates hand knitting yarns that possess outstanding breathability & thermal insulation. For over 1,000 years, sheep in Iceland have been roaming the sub-arctic climate. Their adaption to the climate has given their wool a distinctive character. The fleece is a combination of inner & outer fibers with the inner fibers being soft & insulating, while the outer fibers are long, durable & weather resistant. Together the fibers create a yarn that is warm & durable.
Lèttlopi is a worsted/ Aran weight yarn that is ideal for outerwear, cozy sweaters, accessories & items for the home. The yarn is perfect for stranded colorwork, cables & textured stitch patterns.
Knit designer Jennifer Steingass has created two patterns that capture the epic, natural romance of Iceland. The Dreyma (“dream” in Icelandic) Sweater is a stunning piece that features a gorgeous stranded colorwork yoke, as well as continuing sleeve & lower body detail. Worked seamlessly from the top down, the sweater has the option for a ribbed or rolled neckline.
The stranded yoke is worked in the round with short row shaping used for the shoulders and neckline. The sleeves and body are separated and worked top down. Thoughfully designed waist shaping gives the sweater a flattering fit.
The matching Dreyma Mitts feature a complimentary colorwork design & are knit bottom-up, in the round. They will be the warmest mittens you have ever worn!
