Craft: Crochet
Edgewise Hat, named after its sideways construction is a crochet take on a classic ribbed beanie. Using simple slip and half double crochet stitches worked into back loops creates a stretchy, lofty rib. The crown shaped with short rows creates a clean, sleek shape. Can be worn slightly slouchy, or brimmed. Monokrom’s tonal ombré colours highlight the linear texture.
Pattern Notes:
The hat is crocheted flat, sideways in 4 segments shaped with short rows. The edges are then joined with slip stitch for a seamless finish. This pattern uses US crochet terms.
