Sweet Georgia Sock Yarn Blank

Hand-dyed in Vancouver, Canada, Sock Yarn Blanks are a gorgeous blend of superwash Merino wool & nylon that is both soft to the touch & durable.  This unique put-up is a fun & different way to play with color.

Before each undyed skein of yarn is dyed, it is knit into a “blank.”  A blank is basically a large rectangle knit in stockinette stitch.  The blank is then dyed like fabric, which creates a gradient hue that flows seamlessly throughout a project.  To knit the blank, you may unravel & create a ball first or simply knit from the blank as you unravel it!

The plied yarn offers beautiful stitch definition for textured & cabled patterns.  Each unique, richly colored blank will knit into stunning socks, wraps, garments & accessories.

IMPORTANT:  Please note that sock blanks come machine knit in a Stockinette stitch tube.  To work, pull one end from the tube to unravel.  You may wish to work straight from the tube or wind it into a ball / cupcake.  Knitting or crocheting from a sock blank is crinkly, but the crinkles block out perfectly for a smooth, beautiful finish, ensuring you have a magical color-changing experience.  Pre-washing the blank prior to knitting is encouraged by the dyer.

Artisan hand-dyed yarns have natural color variations from skein to skein. Our team will do their best to choose the best matching skeins for your order. Here are some tips to get the best results when knitting with hand-dyed yarns:

  • Purchase enough yarn for your entire project
  • Alternate skeins by knitting two rows from one skein, then two rows from another skein. This will help to blend color differences.
