My First Sweater Help Along

Woodsmoke by Jessica McDonald,
Quince & Co. Chickadee or Fingering Weight + Lace Mohair Yarn

The relaxed days of summer are the perfect time to knit your first sweater that will be ready to wear for Fall!

Join us every Wednesday, 8/9-10/25 from 6pm-7:30pm for the complimentary “My First Sweater Help Along.”

Part class, part knit along & all fun, the Help Along is our version of a class where we will have plenty of knitting help, but with a relaxed structure so that you can knit at your own pace. We understand everyone has busy schedules, so the Help Along is structured with that in mind. Whether you start a few weeks in or have to miss a week- it is no problem. We will get you started from the beginning or picking up right where you left off.

The Woodsmoke Sweater by Jessica McDonald is a wonderful first sweater. Knit top-down, in the round, the sweater is lovely to wear, well written & approachable. The sweater is knit in sport/light DK yarn & is available to knit in sizes 3 month-70” bust.

My First Sweater Help Along

Kick-off Night: Wednesday, August 9, 6pm-7:30pm

Join us as we talk about how to select the perfect yarn for your Woodsmoke Sweater. We will go on a field trip in the store and help you pick out the perfect yarn. To wrap up the evening, there will be a discussion on how to knit a gauge swatch & why it is so important for sweater knitting.

Wednesdays, August 16-October 25, 6pm-7:30pm

Relax & work at your own pace as you set out on your exciting sweater knitting journey. Our knowledgeable staff will be available to provide hands-on help, as well as answer any questions. Detailed handouts with photos will be provided for each sweater milestone such as casting-on, short row shaping, putting stitches on hold, finding the perfect length, picking up sleeve stitches, weaving in ends & blocking your finished piece!.

The handouts contain vital information for sweater knitting & may be used as reference sheets for future projects.

We look forward to seeing you. There is no sign-up required...just show up ready to knit & have fun!

*Prerequisite: to make the Help Along more enjoyable, it is ideal to already have the following skills: casting-on, knitting & purling.

Please feel free to email us at team@woolandcompany.com with any questions.

Happy Knitting!
