Knitter’s Abbreviations

Unless otherwise stated in each pattern, here are the standard abbreviations that we use in the patterns that we publish:

BO bind off
CC contrast color
CO cast on
K knit
K2tog knit two stitches together
kfb knit into front and back of stitch
M1 make one new stitch
MC main color
P purl
P inc (purl increase) = purl into front and back of stitch
P2tog purl two stitches together
Rep repeat
S2KP sl 2 knitwise, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over k1
Sl slip as if to purl
Sl1 wyif slip 1 with yarn in front (bring yarn to front, slip as if to purl then return yarn to back)
ssk slip as if to knit, slip as if to knit, then knit slipped stitches together.

w&t wrap and turn
Wyif with yarn in front
YO yarn over
